George Floyd mural defaced with racial slur two days after Chauvin s murder conviction Mural honoring George Floyd vandalized, police investigating FOX 26 Reporter Natalie Hee has more after a mural designed to honor George Floyd was vandalized. Now, Houston police are investigating. HOUSTON - The George Floyd mural on Bell and Chartres St in East Downtown was defaced with a racial slur on Thursday. The move comes just two days after former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty of murder and manslaughter by a jury.  For the next two days, the artists behind the George Floyd mural in East Downtown will be re-creating their tribute piece, spray painting over the racist message defacing the Houston native’s face. 

Manvel resident who was KIA in Nam honored 50 years later

Tears mixed with pride. Those were the sentiments of many who attended a special event last Saturday as a Viet Nam war hero was honored on the 50th anniversary of his death. American flags flew throughout Manvel’s cemetery as Army Sgt. Dennis Valusek, who was killed in Cambodia on June 8, 1970, was honored by his fellow soldiers. Along with several members of his platoon, family and friends gathered as Cpt. Fred Drew, Valusek’s company commander, conducted the ceremony. All five of Valusek’s siblings attended the event: Lois Booth and Terri Dalmolin from Manvel; Robert Valusek from Pasadena, Bannie Lenardezzi from Beeville and Lois Valusek from Alvin.
