Poet Felispeaks and rapper Jafaris perform
They, a special commission for Shine Your Light - Solstice on RTÉ Radio One on Sunday from 8.30pm.
RTÉ in association with the Creative Ireland Programme is calling on Ireland to Shine Your Light on Sunday, December 20 from 8.30pm to create an important, national moment of solidarity, on the eve of the 2020 winter solstice. Both RTÉ Radio and Television will mark this special moment with story, song and poetry.
They is an exploration of identity, modern society and race. It s a safe space for the words of poet Felispeaks and rapper Jafaris to voice a year of when being black became personal, amid the global Black Lives Matter movement.

A group of young bodhrán players have spoken of the thrill of performing with Sharon Shannon and the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra.
The group, made up of past and present pupils from St Augustine s School in Blackrock, Co Dublin, recorded a performance for the national Shine Your Light - Solstice event on Sunday.

An incredible roll-call of Ireland’s finest artists are uniting to celebrate the winter solstice with RTÉ TV and radio specials this Sunday, December 20.
This point of the year has always captured our imaginations, symbolising new beginnings and a turning of faces to the sun. On the eve of the solstice, a joyful half- hour TV special full of colour, music and movement opens with a dance spectacular delivering a thrilling contemporary take on an ancient theme.
The exhilarating fusions continue with Damien Dempsey and Erica Cody each performing with Crash Ensemble, and Sharon Shannon and a bodhrán band coming together with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra for a tune. New writing includes an exploration of solstice by Marina Carr and Manchán Magan’s testament to the power of human touch.
