BRIGHTON Brighton Police Chief Mark Fitzgerald’s employment was terminated Monday, March 15, by the village board, according to a copy of a letter of termination obtained by The Telegraph through a Freedom of Information Act request.
On Oct. 19, 2020, Fitzgerald was placed on administrative leave with pay pending an internal administrative investigation. The village would not discuss the matter while the investigation was pending. There still are state and federal criminal investigations pending, but the investigation by Macoupin County is complete.
