With the 14th edition of IPL about to begin this Friday, the big question on everyone s mind is how does one stop the rampaging Mumbai Indians from winning three titles in a row after their wins in 2020 last year in UAE and in 2019 in Hyderabad.
Mumbai Indians are the only team to have won five IPL titles, they stumbled to wins in their first four titles but the way they bossed the 2020 IPL title in the UAE which got over last November and hardly any time for other franchises to change their teams because of the mini auction, it s going to be challenging for the rest of the seven franchises to turn around their fortunes against a confident and power packed Mumbai Indians.
Each edition of the Indian Premier League has unearthed young talent from India’s domestic circuit. While some of these youngsters fizzle away after a season or two, the others find their way to international cricket via good performances in the IPL. Talk about the Pandya brothers, or Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar, the IPL has played a big role in polishing some of the current Team India players. Ahead of the cash-rich league’s 14th season, here we look at five youngsters who could take everyone by surprise in IPL 2021.
1. Shahrukh Khan (Punjab Kings)
Tamil Nadu’s power hitter Shahrukh Khan was picked up by Punjab Kings for Rs 5.25 crore after he impressed in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021. His 19-ball 40 in the quarter-finals and seven-ball 18 in the final were two innings in particular that brought him into the limelight ahead of the IPL auctions. New Delhi, April 4 : Mumbai Indians (MI) put some distance between themselves and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as the most successful team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by winning their fifth title last season. They are now looking to become the first team to win a hat-trick of IPL titles.
On paper, MI seem to have a squad capable of making a run to the trophy. They have retained their batting core comprising captain Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard, and the Pandya brothers, Hardik and Krunal.
