Andrew Li of Pueblo Centennial High School and Isobel McGivney of East High School both received $2,500 scholarships from the program, along with 2,500 graduating seniors across the United States.
“It’s a big honor to have been selected by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation and to be one of those merit scholars,” Li said.
“It’s a super exciting experience to have that kind of recognition and having that assistance for attending college next year.”
The program received about 1.6 million applicants, and the pool was later narrowed down to the 50,000 students who scored the highest on the PSAT.
Out of the pool of 50,000 students, the program named 16,000 of them as semifinalists.
