KVNF Wins 12 Awards from Society of Professional Journalists

KVNF notched 12 stories on the list of 2021 Top of the Rockies winners. The contest sponsored by the Colorado chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists pits print, TV, radio, and online news organizations from four states (Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Wyoming) depending on newsroom size. The nonprofit KVNF fits the definition of a small newsroom.   Kori Stanton’s Talkin Music program featuring The Reminders won for Best Arts & Entertainment Feature Gavin Dahl’s interview with Secretary of State Jena Griswold in which she accused President Donald Trump of voter suppression won for Best Legal Feature   KVNF earned six Second Place prizes:

ROAD TRIP: Live Music Still Soothes the Soul Series begins in Paonia

The Paradise Theatre and Pickin’ Productions in Paonia are launching a series of intimate concerts called Live Music Still Soothes the Soul. A limited number of tickets will be sold for the series’ shows, which will begin with Delta blues singer Ron Artis II on Friday, April 23, and continue through July 31, when Steve Poltz will perform. Each show will have two seatings: 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. All but one of the shows — the Artis concert that will be in Town Park — will take place at Poulos Park, 217 Grand Ave., next to the Paradise Theatre in downtown Paonia. Tickets purchased in advance cost $25 per person. Day of tickets cost $30.
