Author Matson Taylor drops into Chapter One Loftus for book signing | Darlington and Stockton Times

AUTHOR Matson Taylor dropped into an east Cleveland bookshop to sign copies of his novel, The Miseducation of Evie Epworth. The writer signed several copies of his first novel, which is set in the summer of 1962, at Chapter One Loftus. The book was released in paperback last week. Paul Jones-King, of Chapter One Loftus, said: It was great to welcome Matson to the shop, he’s the first national author to sign books in the shop, and it was great to be able to give him some local products to take away with him including cakes from the Willow Cake Shop in Loftus and Chapter One Loftus Bookshop Blend Coffee by the Roseberry Coffee Company.

Last modified on Thu 22 Apr 2021 06.57 EDT Winning tip: Deep thoughts and homemade cake, Derbyshire Scarthin Books in Cromford, Derbyshire, is a tall, thin bookcase of a building. Its many rooms, stacked one on top of the other, have new books, old books and every sort of reading matter in its nooks and higgledy-piggledy crannies. You can lose yourself for hours. Rest, revive and continue after a break in its cosy reading room. Try a homemade cake in the cafe upstairs (when Covid rules allow) or, for food for thought, attend a talk in its Café Philosophique. And whether you need it or not, take a peek in the authentic Victorian bathroom with literary memorabilia-lined walls.
