NDC supporters protest against EC in Sefwi Wiawso

+ Supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have taken to the principal streets of Sefwi Wiaso to protest against the Election Commission over the results in the just-ended general election. The peace walk is said to have started from Sefwi Dwenase through to Wiawso. According to the NDC supporters, the Presidential and Parliamentary elections result by the EC do not reflect the true will of the people in the December polls. The Parliamentary candidate for NDC, Paul Evans Aidoo, who addressed the media said they are going to organise a mammoth protest on Tuesday at the EC’s office to demand the missing ballot box be found and returned.

NDC demands re-run of outstanding polling station at Sefwi Wiawso The National Democratic Congress(NDC) has called for a re-run of parliamentary elections in the outstanding polling station at Sefwi Wiawso in the Western region. The General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, in an interview on GHOne TV said the party believes its candidate won at the last polling station where the ballot box was destroyed. “The last polling station was NDC stronghold and it was through the collusion of the Electoral Commission that that box was destroyed. And we say that go and correct your mistakes, let’s do a re-run there as we’ve done in Akwatia, as we’ve done elsewhere,” he told Serwah Amihere on GH Today.

+ The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Western North Region has said it is not ready to accept the parliamentary results in one of its constituencies. According to the party, the results declared as an official by the Electoral Commission (EC) in the Sefwi Wiawso constituency cannot be factual. The party is questioning how the Commission arrived at the number of votes on which basis the parliamentary seat was declared in favour of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) when a ballot box went missing in Asawinso. NDC parliamentary candidate for Sefwi Wiawso Constituency, Paul Evans Aidoo said the results will remain invalid if the ballot box at the Asawinso Community Center is not found.
