Morristown Daily Record PARSIPPANY Two more of the township s vacant office properties are closer to being transformed into residential complexes after approval from the Planning Board. Still waiting for final Township Council approval, the proposals call for the office building at 2 Campus Drive in the Mack-Cali complex to be razed and replaced with new construction of 172 residential units. Next door, the developer is proposing to build 238 residential units on the vacant property at 3 Campus Drive.  Michael dePierro, council president and a veteran Planning Board member, said he is not happy about the prospect of another 410 residences in Morris County s most populated municipality.

Parsippany NJ man Edilson Trejo offered plea deal in fatal stabbing

New Jersey Herald If he doesn t take the offer, Edilson Trejo will face a first-degree murder charge and possible life sentence in the killing last June, a Morris County prosecutor said during a virtual court hearing.  Trejo, 22, has about seven weeks to decide whether he will plead guilty to first-degree aggravated manslaughter. The offer, placed on the record for the first time at the hearing, will expire at the time of his next court hearing on April 29, said Kelly Sandler, an assistant prosecutor. Trejo is accused of stabbing another man nine times in the back, neck and torso after a night of drinking at his Parsippany Road apartment on June 20. Defense attorneys have argued he acted in self-defense after disarming the knife-wielding victim, identified only as BC in court documents.

UP NEXT A teacher charged with sexually assaulting a toddler rejected a plea offer that would send him to prison for a minimum of three years.  Thomas Meier faces up to 10 years in state prison if found guilty of the charges of sexually assaulting a 3-year-old at the Head Start Community Program of Morris County.  Meier s attorney, Paul Faugno, on Tuesday said his client would reject the state s plea offer. During the virtual hearing, Assistant Prosecutor Reema Sethi Kareer said the offer will stand until Meier s next court date. The deal calls for him to plead guilty to second-degree endangerment of the welfare of a child that will be treated as a third-degree charge at sentencing with a maximum prison sentence of five years.
