As it turns out, many of the same things that go into pulling off an A-list music festival are key weapons in the battle against COVID-19.
That was the message from Rock Lititz manager Andrea Shirk on Thursday as about 20 workers from the concert and event staging company thatâs known worldwide began creating at Park City Centerâs former Bon-Ton store a facility unlike anything Lancaster County has seen in decades â a vaccination site capable of handling up to 6,000 patients a day.
âWhat we do is go into strange places and do something different every time, so weâre used to that flexibility and the concept of having to sort of accommodate new environments,â said Shirk. âSo I think our team s mindset pivoted easily to like, OK, we just gotta do what we do â we just started doing it a little differently.â

LANESBOROUGH â A local man who has toured the shuttered Berkshire Mall envisions transforming the place into high-rise apartments, condominiums and hotel space with amenities that serve a work-from-home economy.
Preston Repenning outlined that dream to Lanesborough officials this week, but as of yet does not have financing lined up for what he terms a project costing hundreds of millions of dollars.
Repenning, a 66-year-old resident of Lanesborough, is a musician and has not developed commercial property before. He has not spoken with the mallâs owner.

Lancaster County commissioners approve plan to open COVID-19 vaccination center at Park City Mall
Updated Feb 17, 2021;
The former Bon-Ton department store in the Park City Mall has been approved for use as a massive coronavirus vaccination site, Lancaster County officials announced Wednesday.
The Lancaster County commissioners signed off on a final agreement Wednesday that could allow a vaccination center to open in the mall as early as the beginning of March, according to a news release.
A pilot program will offer less than 1,000 vaccinations a day between March 8 and 14, the release said. After that, up to 6,000 vaccinations will be offered per day through June 30, depending on the vaccine’s availability.
