The newest upstate New York casino will be built in what used to be a department store in a local strip mall. According to a report from the Times Union, a newspaper in the Capital Region of the state, construction on the casino will break ground this summer in the Hudson Valley. It is expected to open in early 2022. The facility itself will be located at the former location of the Bon-Ton department store in the Newburgh Mall. It will provide 90,000 square feet of space for 1,300 video gaming machines and a bar. Traditional table games will not be available. The new casino will be owned and operated by the Genting Group, an Asian gaming giant that has begun to make waves in the American casino market. The company opened Resorts World Catskills in 2018 and will open Resorts World Las Vegas, the largest casino in the city, later this month.
