Nearly 250,000 people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccines in Lake and Sumter counties, according to the Florida Department of Health.
Of the 248,682 who have received a dose of the Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson vaccine in Lake and Sumter counties since the state began its vaccination program in December, 165,218 were in Lake and 83,464 were in Sumter.
All told, 198,969 of those vaccinated, including 128,230 in Lake and 70,739 in Sumter, completed the two-shot series Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, or the single dose vaccine developed by Johnson & Johnson through Sunday – the latest information contained in Monday’s update. The majority – 121,909 in Lake County and 66,674 in Sumter – received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines.
They are among more than 6 million people statewide – 6,347,939 – who have completed one of the three series of vaccinations. Nearly 9 million people in Florida – 8,8,915,278 – have received at least one dose of the vaccines.

PILLAGER The aroma of melting cheese filled the ProStart classroom at Pillager High School Tuesday, April 27, as students clad in white chef’s jackets were hard at work making homemade mac and cheese.

The majority – 115,346 in Lake County and 65,650 in Sumter – received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines.
They are among nearly 6 million people statewide – 5,985,537 – who have completed one of the three series of vaccinations. More than 8.6 million people in Florida – 8,684,024 – have received at least one dose of the vaccines.
