The Trojans will have Mason Scheve and Taylon Mount returning for next season, who were their best three-point shooters. Players that saw action off the bench last year included Jake DeJoode, Parker Sheets, and Jonah Schumacher. Pleasantville will have to find three players to fill the voids of Colby Sandholdt, Caylor Clark, and Austin McMillin. Coach Tom Wilkins tells KNIA Sports that he applauded the team’s effort after the season ended.
“Just the effort they gave every single night. We got blown out in a few games. We had five or six games that we lost by six points or less. We lost two games by one point and one game in overtime.”
Junior Mason Scheve broke out and averaged 19 points per game while shooting 47% from the field and 40% from beyond the arc. Scheve also set a career-high with 35 points against Des Moines Christian on January 22. Senior Caylor Clark will graduate with 422 career points, including 198 this past season. Another player that emerged as a three-point shooter is Junior Taylon Mount, who shot 35% from three-point range.
Pleasantville will be returning two starters next season, who are Scheve and Mount. Clark, Austin McMillin, and Colby Sandholdt all will graduate. Players that are potential starters next year include Parker Sheets and Jake DeJoode.
The Trojans finished with an 8-14 record on the season, including a playoff victory over Colfax-Mingo last Monday.
