The Department of Agriculture in the Birim Central Municipality has held its annual Research Extension farmer Linkage Committee (RELC) session to convey constraints of farmers for research and solutions via agricultural extension service delivery.
The RELC was established in 1994 by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to outline an approach for identifying problems of farmers and farming activities.
It was also to describe different mechanisms that might be used to solve these problems.
Speaking at the RELC session held in Akim Oda, Mr Isaac Mann, the Director of Agriculture Department in Birim Central Municipality said before the session, the department organised Pre – RELC planning session for four operational zones in the Municipality which served as preparation for the main RELC.

Theodore Sterling, aged 34, of Pembroke Road, Northampton, failed to comply with requirements of a community order; fined £40, costs £60.
James Alexander Weir, aged 29, of Freehold Street, Northampton, possession of class B drug cannabis; discharged conditionally for six months,surcharge £22, costs £85.
The Rice Bazaar was in Birim Central Municipal
Birim Central Municipal Department of Agriculture under the Modernising Agriculture in Ghana (MAG) programme has organised local rice food bazaar in Akim Oda to demystify the myth surrounding the consumption of local food.
The MAG programme, which commenced in 2017, aims at ensuring a more modern, equitable and sustainable agricultural sector that contributes to food and nutritional security.
The Rice Bazaar, fruits and Vegetable Fair was on the theme; “Promoting the consumption of locally produced agricultural commodities.”
Mr Isaac Mann the Birim Central Municipal Director for Agriculture Department explained how the economic activity of the country could be stagnated and regressed if “we do not encourage high market demand on local agricultural commodities.”
