Mumbai Metro will get its first of its indigenously-manufactured
driverless trains from Bharat Earth Movers Ltd. Bengaluru, Urban Development Minister
Eknath Shinde said on Wednesday.
The first of these automatic Metro trains will reach the Charkop Metro Carshed in Mumbai on January 27 and after operational tests, will be deployed on the two new Metro routes scheduled to start from May this year, he said. This will be a driverless Metro train, running automatically. But, in order not to panic or make passengers feel unsafe, for around six months initially, they will be operated by a motorman. The trains will have a max speed limit of 80kmph, said Shinde.

Central Railway (CR) will operate a special traffic and power block on all six lines between Thane and Mulund stations for launching of girders of Kopri Road Over Bridge by Road crane.
The block will be operated from 01.00 hrs to 04.30 hrs on Saturday/Sunday night and Sunday/Monday night.
Suburban services between Kurla and Thane will remain cancelled from 00.30 hrs to 05.30 hrs on January 24 and January 25. Passengers are requested to bear with the Railway Administration for the inconvenience caused due to this infrastructure block, CR spokesperson said.
