New Delhi: Labour activist Nodeep Kaur, who was recently released on bail, said that state repression was on the rise, saying anyone who raises their voice is “called names and labelled” and will be booked under stringent laws.
She was speaking at a press conference organised on Monday by 37 groups to discuss “repression by state forces” and to demand the release of Shiv Kumar, president of Mazdoor Adhikar Sangathan and other âpolitical prisoners”, including those arrested post the riots in Delhi.

A group of farmers protesting against the Centre s three farm laws on Friday stopped a wheat-laden train in Punjab s Moga district.

The protesting farmers sat down on the tracks, saying they would not allow the train to go out of the state, they added.

Intensifying its agitation against the three agricultural laws, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha on Wednesday announced a nationwide ‘rail roko’ (railway blockade) from 12 noon to 4 pm on February 18.
Besides, the morcha revoked the suspension of the Azaad Kisan Committee, Doaba, led by Harpal Singh Sangha, while a decision on the suspension of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Krantikari), led by Surjeet Singh Phul, has been kept pending.
Both of them were suspended for straying from the route during the tractor parade on January 26. Farmer leaders had formed a three-member committee to inquire into the matter.

The Tikri, Singhu and Ghazipur borders will remain closed for traffic as farmers at the borders of the national capital continued their agitation against the Central farm laws. Other borders including the Singhu, Piau Maniyari, Saboli and Mungeshpur borders will also remain closed while the Lampur, Safiabad, Singhu school and Palla toll tax borders are open.
