Srinagar, July 7: The members of the Delimitation Commission today interacted with political leaders of various parties at Pahalgam in Anantnag district.
The members from National Conference, Congress and other parties stressed on holding the delimitation exercise in a free and fair manner while BJP demanded reservation for SC and ST categories and one more Assembly seat for Anantnag district.
The delimitation panel reached Pahalgam Club to meet leaders from various political parties this morning.
From the National Conference, former legislator Altaf Ahmed Kaloo led the party delegation and interacted with the members of the Delimitation Commission.
Speaking to reporters, Kaloo said that the party supported the view point already presented before the Commission by senior leaders in Srinagar. “We also presented the memorandum and urged the Commission that it would have been better if J&K would have been granted full Statehood before delimitation. Political parties meet Delimitation Comm, put forward view point

SRINAGAR, July 6: Barring the People’s Democratic Party, almost all political parties in Kashmir today participated in the delimitation exercise by meeting the five-member panel that is on four-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
Barring PDP, members of all the political parties met the panel here at Grand Lalit hotel where they put forth their suggestions vis-à-vis ongoing delimitation process.
Five-member panel of the Commission reached Srinagar in the afternoon and drove straight to Grand Lalit where they held a series of meetings with the political parties. The panel is on four-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, during which it will meet the political parties and also District Election Officers (DEOs) of all the 20 districts of the J&K.
