Doug Heath, MPI’s First Full-Time CEO, Passes at 77 A charter member of the organization that began in 1972, he recently served on the Diversity & Inclusion Committee and completed a timeline of the association’s D&I achievements for its upcoming 50th anniversary celebration. Doug Heath, CMP, one of 150 charter members of Meeting Professionals International in 1972 who became executive vice president and the group’s first full-time CEO ten years later, died in late November. He was 77 years old. In his 20s, Heath worked at the Palmer House Hotel in Chicago, where he assisted meeting groups. A few years later, he became meeting director at AICPA and then got involved with a fledging association that would become MPI. “He was excited about the possibility of making [meeting planning] more of a profession,” said Kathy Heath, his wife, in an article on MPI’s web site. “He wanted the planners, vendors, and suppliers to work together more. Victoria Hansen Special to the Journal-Standard On Dec. 5, the Illinois Farm Bureau hosted its first ever virtual annual meeting. Even though our members were unable to celebrate like we usually do at the Palmer House Hotel in downtown Chicago, it was still a memorable event. Illinois Farm Bureau President Richard Guebert Jr. delivered his president’s address. During this presentation he shared many of the accomplishments of Illinois Farm Bureau and our members during this past year.  Accomplishments include:  Defeating the Progressive Income Tax Constitutional Amendment with a strong statewide grassroots campaign.  IAA Foundation awarded more than $930,000 in grants and scholarships for college student and county agriculture literacy programs.
