Awards luncheon closes out Civic Association s season

James Abbott: Holding seat has been an honour | Clacton and Frinton Gazette

I would like to thank the voters of Witham Northern division for their support at the recent county council elections. Green support increased from 1,743 votes in 2017 to 2,012 this time, but it was not quite enough to hold the seat. It has been an honour to represent the division for the past eight years, where I first stood for election in 1989. Working with local communities and groups, we have made progress on many issues and I would especially like to thank the parish councils I have worked with, and wish them all the best for the future. I remain a member of Braintree District Council alongside my colleague Bob Wright, for Silver End and Cressing ward (which includes Rivenhall) and we look forward to representing those communities in the years ahead.

Town of Osceola wants more information on election errors

Election workers from the spring election in the Town of Osceola will be asked to give a written report to the Town Board about the election and why numerous write-in ballot votes were not initially reported.  The board made the decision to ask for more information from election workers following a discussion of the recount May 4.  Then Town Chair Brandon Whittaker read a prepared statement about the election and the recount. “I would like to make a brief statement about the spring election. As many of you are aware, there were some errors in the initial vote tally for last month’s election. These issues related primarily to counting of write-in ballots. I want to thank those individuals that brought the issue to the attention of town officials.
