The GFWC Women s Club of South County of South County is celebrating National Library Week by delivering one hundred books purchased by club members and the public to local libraries. The project, GFWC Loves Libraries, One Book at a Time, began in February during National Library Lovers Month. Participating libraries are Westerly Library and Wilcox Park, Maury Loontjens Memorial Library in Narragansett, Cross Mills Public Library in Charlestown, South Kingstown s Peace Dale Library, and Willett Free Library in North Kingstown, but all books will be available to Rhode Islanders through the Ocean State Interlibrary Loan system. The donated books have positive female characters and emphasize diversity.

Hi, I am Duke, a four-year old Beagle who has been labeled a “happy-go-lucky pup.” A few things about me: I’m not completely housebroken, but I’m working on it. I’m not crazy about lengthy car rides. I would advise you to keep doors and fence gates closed because I do like to roam. I am protective of my treats, so older kids are the safest bet. I like dogs but can do without cats. Sounds like a lot, I know. Hey, I’m a typical Beagle. I like to sniff things and I’ll eat anything you put in front of me. Long walks are good and good run or game of fetch is always welcome. I’m neutered and I’m crate-trained. Plusses, right? I’m a good get. Or pet. I’m only available because my old owner could no longer care for me.

What a long strange trip it’s been.
After a Bill Waltonish, did we really swallow the brown acid, twirly bird stop and start season we have been forced to watch from our recliners, we get to the One We’ve Been Waiting For.
Ali vs Frazier.
Attila the Hun vs Hannibal Barca.
Godzilla vs. Kong.
First there was Ken Starr U. going all Rowdy Roddy Piper on the Cougs.
During that opening half anschluss by Baylor’s Bears, Doc called, wondering whether Houston coach Kelvin Sampson might get in touch with his inner Guy Lewis and be able to try to stem the tide by throwing a towel on the court, and drawing a T?
WASHINGTON COUNTY â When Womenâs Club of South County (GFWC) member Suzan Amoruso was brainstorming of a new, charitable activity the volunteer service organization could undertake, she considered a world reshaped by the pandemic and one of the public institutions she enjoys most.
âI was trying to think of something contact-less that the club could do and I also love libraries,â said Amoruso. âThen I thought these independent stores are struggling.â
Now through the end of the month, GFWC members will purchase sought-after books requested by six local libraries across five Washington County towns and donate them to the libraries on April 4 through April 10, National Library Week. All books will be purchased at Wakefield Books and were specifically requested by the libraries due to demand.
