FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) -The University of Alaska, Fairbanks (UAF) celebrated their 99th graduation ceremony and their very first “Car-mencement.” Clapping was replaced by honking as students lined up in their vehicles for a drive-in commencement followed by a car parade where family and friends cheered on the grads. The event was held at the Patty Center parking area. Ray Alda, a 2021 graduate was the commencement student speaker. “We all had our struggles this year and everyone experience it in different ways. We were forced to grow so much in a short amount of time, and yet despite all the times we thought we couldn’t do it anymore, we persevered and we got where we are now,” Alda said.
