LETTER | It is interesting that we now have a lively debate in certain informed circles on approaches to our history.
More than fifty years ago with eminent historians like Wang Gungwu and RR Bonney we took the first steps towards writing a Malaysia-centric history after the earlier phase of Euro-centric history taught in our educational institutions.
In the drive and the haste to achieve development and create new successes, we seem to have overlooked our nation’s own key founders.
After more than twenty years of developing Putrajaya, our national administrative centre, there does not seem to be any single facility of note to honour Onn Jaafar.

MP SPEAKS | In the lead-up to the start of phase two of the National Covid-19 Vaccination Programme, there are many questions which need to be asked and hopefully answered.
We commend the job which Coordinating Minister of the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme Khairy Jamaluddin has carried out thus far under challenging circumstances.
We hope that he can respond to the following 10 questions as phase two starts on April 19.
1) What is the geographical distribution of those above 60 who have yet to register for the Covid-19 vaccine?
Khairy has stated previously that due to the lower-than-expected vaccine registration rates among those who are 60 and above, phase three registrants will be vaccinated together with those who are scheduled for vaccination under phase two. PETALING JAYA, April 15 Malaysian comedian Ronny Chieng is using sepak takraw to troll American conservatives on national television.
In a segment for
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, the 35-year-old described sepak takraw as the “perfect sport for disillusioned Republicans.”
This comes as a number of conservative Americans continue to express their disapproval of basketball, rugby, and baseball players using public platforms to speak out against political issues such as racism.

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng (pix) is demanding general damages of RM20 million in his suit against blogger Raja Petra Raja Kamarudin over a series of articles on the RM6.3 billion Penang undersea tunnel project.
Lim, 61, the plaintiff said, a total of 20 articles have been published in both English and Malay by the Malaysia Today portal, belonging to Raja Petra property since February 2019.
“I am demanding RM1 million in damages for each article. The series of articles have been shared by internet users and they have still not been removed by the defendant (Raja Petra),“ he said in his testimony in the hearing to assess the quantum of damages, before High Court Judicial Commissioner Datuk Mohd Arief Emran Arifin today.
