Valley City Public Schools Mask Mandate Ends June 1st

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The following is a news release from Valley City Public Schools Superintendent Josh Johnson. “We are very excited to be finishing this successful school year at Valley City Public Schools. We can truly say that this has been a school year unlike any other. Together, we faced incredible challenges and made several very difficult decisions along the way. On behalf of our staff and school board, we share our appreciation with the students and parents that provided unending support for our school district over the past 14 months. Thank you! Thursday, May 27th is the Last Day of School. We will be dismissing students early this Thursday, the last day of school. Please make sure that you are paying attention for dismissal times shared from schools and/or teachers (hint: we will follow our early dismissal schedule, busing included).

Valley City School District COVID-19 Protocol Update

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The following is a news release by Valley City Public Schools Superintendent Josh Johnson. “A reminder that there will be No School on Thursday, April 1st. This is NOT an April Fool’s joke Change to District COVID-19 Plan starting Tuesday, April 6th. Beginning Tuesday, April 6th, Valley City Public Schools will allow students, staff members, and the public to remove face masks when “Outdoors” on school property. This change is a result of the limited number of COVID cases in our school district and the ability for individuals to better social distance when outdoors. We will not contact trace outdoor close contacts, unless ‘absolutely’ necessary. We will continue to emphasize that all individuals practice proper hand hygiene, social distance, and self-monitor for COVID symptoms. VCPS District COVID-19 Plan Update

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The following is a news release by Valley City Public Schools Superintendent Josh Johnson. “Our District Emergency Response Team (DERT) met to discuss and update our District COVID-19 Plan. Specifically, we addressed a CDC recommendation regarding individuals traveling out of country. Below, please see the out of country requirements that will be implemented in our school district immediately and until further notice. The CDC is recommending (see link below) that all individuals traveling out of country should quarantine upon return to the United States. An individual should quarantine up to 7 days with a negative test and/or quarantine for 10 days without a test. In consultation with our local health team, we will implement this recommendation at VCPS with one modification:

Valley City Public Schools Capacity Limits for Group Gatherings

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The following is a news release issued by Valley City Public Schools Superintendent Josh Johnson. “Earlier this week, the North Dakota High School Activities Association revised the capacity limits to match North Dakota’s Smart Restart for Large Group Gatherings. Johnson said following consultation with our local health team and school board, Valley City Public Schools has made the decision to continue limiting attendance to 50 spectators between December 14, 2020 thru January 15, 2021. This decision will be re-evaluated with our local health team during the week of January 11-15, 2021. Each Valley City Public School participating student will receive two wristbands that they will be able to share with parents and family members. The wristbands will allow entrance into the event, but will not cover the cost of admission. No visiting team spectators will be allowed to attend.
