SVCF Announces Plans For Longest Table Conversation

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The following is a news release from Andrea Nelson Director of the Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation. Nelson said we are excited to announce The Longest Table Community Event. This facilitated conversation is a community event scheduled for Thursday, August 5, 2021, featuring a continuous table on Central Avenue welcoming participants to enjoy a free dinner. Participants will be seated among new people to foster stronger connections, exchange stories, and share ideas about community innovation. Andrea Nelson, Director of the Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation, says, “All community members 14 and older are welcome to join in conversation about our community and discuss what we can do to make it the best place to live, work, raise a family and more.”

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City Public District school board election was held Tuesday, June 8th. There was one District Wide At-Large position was on the ballot. Incumbent Natalie Wintch was re-elected to a second three-year term for the Valley City Public school board. Here are the results. Natalie Wintch received 34 votes, Karen Kringlie – 2 write in votes, Susan Kringlie – 1 write in vote and Wesley King with 1 write in vote according to School District Business Manager Thomas Vanorny. Valley City Public Schools Mask Mandate Ends June 1st

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The following is a news release from Valley City Public Schools Superintendent Josh Johnson. “We are very excited to be finishing this successful school year at Valley City Public Schools. We can truly say that this has been a school year unlike any other. Together, we faced incredible challenges and made several very difficult decisions along the way. On behalf of our staff and school board, we share our appreciation with the students and parents that provided unending support for our school district over the past 14 months. Thank you! Thursday, May 27th is the Last Day of School. We will be dismissing students early this Thursday, the last day of school. Please make sure that you are paying attention for dismissal times shared from schools and/or teachers (hint: we will follow our early dismissal schedule, busing included).

SVCF Pilot Project & Plans for The Longest Table

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (SVCF) – The Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation held a Pilot Project which sets the stage for an event titled The Longest Table this summer. The goal of the Pilot Project was to identify how receptive the community is to a facilitated conversation and determine areas of focus. “Thank you to the over 80 community members that participated in the Pilot Project; your time, feedback, and conversation were crucial for this upcoming event,” remarked Andrea Nelson, Director of the Foundation. The results of the Pilot Project confirm an overwhelming desire to discuss what makes our community a great place to live, work, raise a family and spur a grassroots movement to get increase engagement and enhance our current amenities.

Valley City Public School District Protocols Update

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City Public Schools Superintendent Josh Johnson said for the past two weeks, our school district has had between 3 to 8 active Covid-19 cases involving our students and staff. Because we do NOT want our students to be excluded (as close contacts) from school, activities, prom, and graduation, we believe it is important that we continue with the current mask protocols. He said our planning for next fall is focused on returning to NORMAL operations/functioning within our school district. In addition to the elimination of masks and other protocols, we will be excited to welcome back parents and community members into our schools in ’21-22.
