WUWF FM is a listener supported public radio station licensed to the Board of Trustees of the University of West Florida, located in Pensacola Florida. Broadcasting since January 1981, the station is a member of National Public Radio (NPR), Florida Association of Public Media (FPBS), American Public Media (APM), and Public Radio International (PRI).
WUWF FM’s main signal is broadcast on 88.1 FM with a non-directional power output of 100,000 watts, from a 1,000 foot tower located in Midway, Florida. The Primary antenna array is centered at 187.2 meters (614 feet).
WUWF public radio operates in HD (hybrid digital) mode, providing the opportunity to multicast, which means three separate radio channels are available via HD receivers:
Each year, the Fort Payne Board of Education presents its Employees of the Year awards to teachers, transportation and CNP workers and classroom aides for their âabove and beyondâ actions for students. Each award recipient was nominated by their peers in the school system and plaques were presented on Tuesday by Fort Payne Superintendent Jim Cunningham.

WUWF 88.1 FM, the National Public Radio affiliate operated by the University of West Florida, is pleased to be a participating agency in the 2020 Combined Federal Campaign.
Much like the United Way campaign operates in the private business sector, the CFC enables Federal employees to contribute to the causes of their choice through a single campaign conducted once a year in all Federal workplaces.
The mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.
Unearthing Florida
Unearthing Florida is a project of WUWF Public Media, the Florida Public Archaeology Network (FPAN), and its founder, Dr. Judith Bense. Bense currently serves as the President of the University of West Florida in Pensacola where FPAN is headquartered. It is a series of brief radio segments designed to enhance the public’s understanding of Florida’s archaeological heritage by highlighting the activities of FPAN’s eight regional research centers. It represents the next generation of programs, exploring geographical areas of interest to all Floridians. Dr. Bense lent her expertise as a terrestrial archaeologist for Unearthing Pensacola and serves as narrator of the statewide series. WUWF News Director Sandra Averhart is Executive Producer.
