Commentary: Show Us The Fix
Dear Editor:
In response to your May 24
Please take the “Show Us the Fix” health insurance Challenge below!
If you as a Connecticut legislator feel confident there is no need for a health care public option, then you should feel confident accepting the “Show Us the Fix” health insurance challenge. Find a health insurance option for our small business and small non-profit that is affordable and actually meets the health care needs of our employees.
Background:
As leaders of a non-profit organization and small business respectively, we have been unsuccessful in finding quality, affordable health insurance for our employees. NEW ULM The Heart of New Ulm (HONU)’s Brown County Mental Health and Wellness Action Team is encouraging everyone to use the month of May to start practicing good self-care habits.
“May is Mental Health Awareness month and self-care is so important for good mental health,” said Jen Maurer, coordinator for HONU. “Taking time for yourself and caring for your body and mind should be part of everyone’s daily routine.”
To help people get started, HONU’s Brown County Mental Health and Wellness Team has created a self-care challenge. Using the challenge calendar, participants will fill in each day with their own healthy choice to create their own self-care challenge. Beginning on May 1, participants will work through one healthy choice each day and write it down or enter it on the calendar. Participants are encouraged to tag Heart of New Ulm on social media to share.
Child care task force launched; $13M in grants awarded to create more slots
BY BUSINESS RECORD STAFF Thursday, March 11, 2021 11:09 AM Gov. Kim Reynolds on Wednesday signed Executive Order 8, launching a new child care task force to develop a comprehensive strategy to address the child care shortage in Iowa. The governor also announced awardees of two child care grant programs totaling more than $13 million, which she said will contribute to the creation of more than 4,000 new child care slots across Iowa.
“When we remove the obstacles to high-quality, affordable child care, our families can nurture their kids while maintaining maximum freedom to enter and remain in the workforce,” Reynolds said in a news release. “Today’s announcement will further our efforts to provide high-quality, affordable access to child care in every corner of the state.”
