Stuttgart softball ends season with 10-0 loss to Pea Ridge

- Advertisement - With a 26-6 record and a state tournament quarterfinal berth to their credit, the Stuttgart Lady Ricebirds’ 2021 season came to a close on Friday afternoon following a 10-0 loss to Pea Ridge. Four defensive miscues combined with struggles at the plate proved to be Stuttgart’s undoing. Pea Ridge scored one run in the first, three in the second, and six in the third to place the Ladybirds in a hole too deep to emerge from. The Lady Blackhawks used eight hits and four walks to generate the ten runs with Blakelee Winn’s three-run home run in the third inning proving to be the backbreaker.

(Photo courtesy of Heather Spoon) While the Stuttgart baseball team needed ten innings to put away White Hall on Monday night, Coach Chason Bowman’s Ladybirds softball team used far fewer innings to defeat Barton. Stuttgart hammered the Lady Bears 15-0 in three innings running their overall record to 10-1. Stuttgart scored six runs in the first inning and nine runs in the second to support starter Emma Banks as she searched for her ninth win of the year. Hagan Hord enjoyed a three out of three afternoon which included two RBIs and three runs scored. Lauren Spoon and Madelyn Maynard each had two-hit days with the duo accounting for six of Stuttgart’s 15 runs. In total, Stuttgart delivered ten hits and walked four times against the Lady Bears. Stuttgart did not strike out a single time against Barton.

Stuttgart softball earns varsity sweep of Lonoke | Stuttgart Daily Leader

Both games were played at Stuttgart’s Gina Bailey Field, with the Ladybirds winning both with ease. Game One: Stuttgart 14 Lonoke 0 A ten-run bottom of the first inning allowed the Ladybirds to make quick work of the Jackrabbits in game one. Stuttgart’s ten runs came mostly due to defensive miscues by Lonoke, as only one of Stuttgart’s ten runs was earned. For the game, Lonoke committed a total of six errors.
