AP Govt To Deposit Free Crop Insurance In 15 Lakh Farmers Accounts May 25, 2021, 12:45 IST Andhra Pradesh government is going to deposit an amount of Rs 1,820.23 in more than 15 lakh farmers accounts on Tuesday. This assistance is provided under the YSR Free Crop Insurance scheme for 2021-22 to those farmers whose crops are damaged during Kharif- 2020.  CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will launch the program from his office in Tadepalli, Guntur district. A total of 30.52 lakh people have benefitted with Rs 3,788.25 crore under this scheme in the last two years.  The state government is implementing the free Crop Insurance scheme to lessen the burden of farmers having financial issues. Earlier, the insurance was applicable only to farmers who paid their premium amount for the notified crops.

NIFA invests $14 5 million to promote ag products

Jun 15, 2021 to Jun 17, 2021 USDA s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) invested $14.5 million in two key programs awarded through its Agriculture and Food Research Initiative. NIFA awarded $8.6 million for 18 Economics, Markets and Trade projects, and $5.9 million for 12 Environmental and Natural Resource Economics projects. “These investments will help our nation better promote agricultural products and maximize export markets and opportunities,” said NIFA director Dr. Carrie Castille. Some projects funded from the Economics, Markets and Trade grants priority area include: A University of Arizona study, “Using Field Level Soil Quality Data for Crop Insurance: A Big Data Simulation and Credibility Approach to Improve Crop Insurance Pricing and Agricultural Land Sustainability Practice,” will explore an improved crop insurance premium pricing method that uses soil information and big weather data to increase premium pricing accuracy.

Buggana presents a Budget of ₹2 29 lakh crore

Women and child development gets ₹64,031.68 crore Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy presented the State Budget for the financial year 2021-22 in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday with an expenditure of ₹2,29,779.27 crore and a revenue expenditure estimated at ₹1,82,196.54 crore. The capital expenditure, including loan repayments and other capital disbursements, were pegged around ₹47,582.73 crore. The estimated revenue and fiscal deficits were ₹5,000.05 crore and ₹37,029.79 crore, accounting for 0.47% and 3.49% of the GSDP respectively. Mr. Rajendranath Reddy said Andhra Pradesh was ranked the third in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and they continued to be the government’s foremost priority. He observed that the SDG agenda assumed greater importance in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic as nations and sub-national governments strived to emerge stronger and provide healthier environments to people.
