Subscriber only The deadline to have your say on the concept layout for a new Bundaberg hospital is nearing. The designs are part of the Bundaberg Hospital Redevelopment Project detailed business case investigating the prospects of a new hospital in the region. The State Government previously announced the preferred site on state-owned land, west of Kay McDuff Dr. North Burnett, Fraser Coast, Bundaberg and Discovery Coast community members are encouraged to look at the concept designs and provide feedback by Sunday. Concept designs for a proposed new hospital in Bundaberg will be showcased for the next two weeks online and through public information displays and pop-up sessions.

Subscriber only As the deadline for community consultation on the Bundaberg Hospital Redevelopment Project nears, the Bundaberg Regional Council has sent in their submission. The council CEO Steve Johnston confirmed the submission had been lodged with the State Government in relation to the preferred site of the new hospital. Mr Johnston told the
NewsMail the submission reiterated their strong support for a new Level 5 Bundaberg Hospital and highlighted some concerns about infrastructure requirements and connectivity of the preferred site. The
NewsMail recently reported the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service had more than 100 community members and staff from across the entire catchment share feedback about their experiences and suggestions via the survey or in writing about the redevelopment project.

A multistorey carpark, education, training and research section, dedicated mental health and specialised services area, and rehabilitation inpatient unit are just some of the features included in the designs released as part of the Bundaberg Hospital Redevelopment Project for the proposed three-storey hospital. The layout for the ground floor includes a pharmacy, emergency department, medical imaging, integrated care, cancer care, outpatient care and an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Liaison. A submission on the new Bundaberg Hospital will be put before local councillors to vote upon this week.
The matter is listed on the Bundaberg Regional Council ordinary meeting agenda for Wednesday.
The Bundaberg Hospital Redevelopment Project community consultation has been under way since late November and will remain open until February 14.

âSince 2018 Council has been advocating strongly for a new Level 5 Hospital to be established in Bundaberg,â the agenda reads.
