Patong gets a new mayor as election results confirmed
PHUKET: Chalermsak Maneesri has been confirmed as the new Mayor of Patong following formal confirmation of the Mar 28 municipality election results yesterday (Apr 28).

The Phuket office of the Election Commission of Thailand (PEC) posted the formal notices confirming the election of mayors and councillors at the 12 municipalities in Phuket yesterday afternoon (Apr 28).

PHUKET: Chalermluck Kebsup has drawn a clear line for voters in the upcoming municipal election for Patong Mayor: vote for the brother of the man deeply involved in the running of taxis and tuk-tuks in the town, or vote for the person pushing for an actual form of public transport to be brought to Patong.

The election is to be held on Mar 28. Pakrit Keeesin, younger brother of influential Patong businessman Preechawut ‘Prab’ Keesin, last weekend announced that he will contest the seat of mayor in the upcoming municipal election.

PHUKET: Prince of Songkla University (PSU) Phuket campus has signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Patong Municipality and several private companies to assist in the research and development of an electric bus service to operate within Patong, among other projects that are expected to generate some B200 billion for the island’s economy within five years of being launched.
