LAHORE: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said work has been started on establishing 15 new universities in the province as the provincial government is pursuing a policy of setting up universities in every district.
He said this during a meeting with Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairman Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid who called on him at Governorâs House and presented him PHECâs annual report.
The governor was informed that the PHEC had launched a Rehnumai Markaz portal to provide timely information to the students and solve their problems. He also briefed the governor about various other projects of the Punjab Higher Education Commission.

Punjab colleges to remain closed from tomorrow till Eid ul Fitr

LAHORE: All public and private colleges in Punjab will remain closed from tomorrow (April 29) till Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, as per a notification from the Punjab Higher Education (HED) department on Wednesday. In continuation of earlier notification on 25-04-2021 & in line with the decisions of #NCOC dated 27-04-2021 all Public & Private Colleges in Punjab shall remain closed w.e.f. 29-04-2021 till Eid-ul-Fitar 2021 holidays, read the notification.
No exams until June 15 due to rising coronavirus cases: Shafqat Mehmood
The decision by the provincial government comes a day after Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood announced exams in Pakistan have been suspended and none will take place before June 15.
LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Higher Education and Information Technology Raja Yasir Humayun says career counselling centres will be set up in educational institutions to guide the students.
A web portal will also be launched to help the students. He was giving an interview to the FM radio and web TV of the Lahore College for Women University. The minister also visited the Department of Mass Communication.
LCWU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Bushra Mirza and Department Chairperson Dr Anjum Zia briefed the minister on the equipment, studios and laboratories set up in the department. The VC said in his briefing that during Covid-19, the Lahore College for Women University continued teaching with the help of the Learning Management System.
