The former employee of a popular Montclair salon has filed a lawsuit alleging that the owner sexually assaulted her and then fired her after she complained about it.
The woman identified only as Jane Doe says she was hired as a secretary at Bangz Salon and Wellness Spa on S. Fullerton Avenue in January 2018, then promoted to manager the following year.
The suit accuses salon co-owner Richard Cronk of exposing himself and placing the woman s hand on his genitals on Oct. 16, 2020.
What ensued were months of sexual harassment and workplace banter, that made the woman uncomfortable, embarrassed and humiliated, according to the suit, filed in Passaic County Superior Court.

A New Jersey woman has filed a discrimination lawsuit against a popular Montclair hair salon where she worked alleging the co-owner sexually assaulted her and then fired her after she complained.
Richard Cronk, owner of Bangz Salon and Wellness Spa on South Fullerton Avenue, is accused of exposing himself to the woman and placing her hand on his genitals, according to the suit, filed last week in Superior Court of Passaic County.
The assault, which allegedly occurred on Oct. 16, 2020, followed months of sexual harassment and banter in the workplace that made the employee “uncomfortable, embarrassed and humiliated,” the lawsuit states.
Vandalism
December 23, 2020 (Bellevue Avenue): The complainant reported that an unknown person threw a large rock through the rear windshield of his vehicle, causing it to shatter.
January 2, 2021 (North Willow Street): The complainant reported that she parked her vehicle and upon returning to it observed that the rear windshield was shattered. It is unknown what caused the damage.
Robbery
December 23, 2020 (Bloomfield Avenue): Two juvenile victims reported that while walking east on Bloomfield Avenue in the area of Maple Avenue they were approached from behind by a group of 6 individuals. One of the members of the group stated that he had a weapon (one was never shown) and demanded they turn over their belongings. One victim turned over an orange bag containing sunglasses. The group then fled on foot west. One suspect was described as a juvenile male, approximately 5’1” – 6’2” tall, wearing a dark jacket and dark pants with tears in the thighs.
