Mandla, Madhya Pradesh: At least one person died and more than 12 people were injured after the bus they were travelling in lost control and overturned in Bamhani area of Mandla district in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, said a senior police official. The injured have been admitted to a hospital, said ASP Gajendra Singh Kanwar.
The accident comes days after 51 people were killed in a road accident in Madhya Pradesh s Sidhi district. The efforts to trace three persons, who went missing after the bus plunged into a canal two days ago failed to yield any result on Thursday, an official said.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reached Rampur Naikin in Sidhi district to meet the families of the people who died in Sidhi bus accident yesterday. A total of 50 bodies have been recovered so far from the site, the police said.
Satna SP Dharmveer Singh said, “The accused was arrested late in the night from Basti area of Satna district and was handed over to the Sidhi police.
Meanwhile, Sidhi SP Pankaj Kumawat said, “The accused driver has been arrested and he has been booked under 304 A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 304 (Punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) is being increased. He is being interrogated further.
It is noteworthy that at least 50 people were killed when a packed passenger bus veered off the road and plunged into a canal in MP’s Sidhi district on Tuesday morning.

According to eye witnesses, the bus has sank in the canal and not visible now. It is feared that the bus was swept away in the water current. At least seven persons swam to the banks of the canal while others are missing, they said. Further details are awaited.
