Weather specialist Benison Estareja said that a low pressure area (LPA) was located at 550 kilometers (km) northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, or inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) at around 3 a.m. “Based on the PAGASA’s latest analysis and LPA’s current track, the LPA will likely be outside the PAR tomorrow (Aug. 5) but there is still a chance that it will become a tropical depression while exiting the PAR,” Estareja said in the PAGASA’s daily weather bulletin.
