New Delhi, March 14 : The money received from Gulf countries by arrested Campus Front in India (CFI) general secretary K.A. Rauf Sherif was not meant for the mask business during the Covid-19 lockdown or as a commission but was a disguise under which money was being remitted from Popular Front of India (PFI) member Noufal Shareef and others.
The ED has filed its first chargesheet against five office bearers of the PFI and its student wing, the CFI, including Sherif in connection with its money laundering probe in February this year.

New Delhi, Mar 11 (IANS): The Popular Front of India (PFI) - set up as an offshoot of National Development Fund in Kerala and accused by the UP government of instigating anti-CAA riots last year - allegedly used to collect cash from Gulf countries. For collection of these funds, the organisation appointed its members, who sent the money through illegal hawala transactions or through remittances that were never deposited in the bank account of the organisation, an Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation has revealed.

New Delhi, Mar 11 (IANS): K.A. Rauf Sherif, the national general secretary of the Campus Front of India (PFI), the student wing of Popular Front of India (PFI), received more than Rs 1.36 crore from the members of the group residing abroad, an Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation has revealed.
The ED charge sheet, filed in February this year at a Special PMLA court, viewed by IANS, revealed that Rs 1.36 crore were received by Sherif.
It said, Sherif received Rs 28.36 lakh from Noufal Shareef, a PFI member, Rs 21 lakh from Muhammed Shafeeque Payeth, Rs 19.73 lakh from Qatar s Doha through Shamnad, Rs 11.34 lakh from Muhammed Fasil Bashir, Rs 10.25 lakh from Munawar on behalf of Shamnad, Rs 10.22 lakh from Muhammedon behalf of Shamnad, Rs 9.22 lakh from Razick on behalf of Shamnad, Rs 8.91 lakh from Stefy Haneefa on behalf of Shamnad, Rs 5.15
