ANDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. Standardized testing for students throughout the state continues this week. It was a decision that some educators did not support, saying that too much stress was put on kids during the COVID-19 pandemic.
They pushed to pause standardize testing last year. However, policymakers disagreed and said tests should continue, citing a need to know where students stand after a year of unique learning.

As she works toward the highest award in Girl Scouting, 15-year-old Abigail J. Thibodeau has learned that “sometimes the ‘impossible’ isn’t really all that impossible at all.”
The member of Troop 64594 in Southampton focused her Gold Award project on providing shade to those who use the William E. Norris Elementary School preschool playground. She coordinated the funding, purchase and installation of two steel shade shelters there.
Frisco ISD expected to vote on new attendance zones Monday
There was mixed response from parents at a special meeting about the proposed zones, which would go into effect for the 2021-22 school year.
Frisco ISD administration presented draft zones, which would go into effect for the 2021-22 school year, during the last regular meeting on Nov. 9.
Several community members weighed in on Frisco ISD’s proposed attendance zone changes during a special meeting on Dec. 3, with the board of trustees expected to vote on the item on Monday. The proposed changes are an attempt to utilize space and balance enrollment across the district, according to officials.
