Ghaziabad: The vice-chairperson of Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) on Monday convened a meeting of seven builders from Crossings Republik, the state’s first township under Integrated Township Scheme that came up in 2007, and asked them to submit a report detailing work done by them within a week. These developers have failed to provide basic facilities even after the compulsory ten-year period. GDA VC Krishna Karunesh has now given them a week’s time to come up with a report detailing the work carried out by them. “State’s principal secretary (housing) will take a stock of projects under the integrated township policy and before that we have asked the erring builders to come up with a report within a week. We will recommend action against them based on that,” Karunesh said.

Clean drains by monsoon: RWA body | Noida News

Noida: An RWA body in the NCR has written to the Noida Authority CEO to start cleaning the drains in various sectors before the onset of monsoon. They have demanded a roster and detailed timeline of the work to be done. Confederation of NCR Residents Welfare Associations (CONRWA) has listed over two dozen sectors in the city that require urgent attention in the matter. “In sectors 19, 27, 11, 12, 18, 20, 22, 26, 28, 33, 34, 36, 37, 55, 57, 62, 63, 65, 66, 67, 125 and others, the internal roads are filled with water every year. One of the key reasons for this is that the slope of the roads is not right. Also, the drains are clogged because they have been encroached upon,” said PS Jain, president.

The district administration is expected to notify Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act on Wednesday and start work on the social impact assessment study covering six villages that will come under the second phase. A total of 1,185 hectares of private land will be acquired in the villages of Karauli Bangar, Dayanatpur, Kureb, Ranhera and Mundhera. This land will be used for constructing the third runway and a commercial MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul work of airplanes) centre.

Tracks being laid on 17-km priority section of RRTS | Noida News

Ghaziabad: The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has started laying tracks on the 17km-long priority section of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) route. As per officials, construction of a pre-cast track slab is going on in a factory in Meerut’s Shatabdinagar. These track slabs will be transported to the site and installed. The first lot of grade rails, being manufactured in Raigarh under the Make in India initiative, has arrived in Duhai and the work has already started in the Sahibabad-Duhai section. Around 4km of RRTS viaduct has been constructed where finishing work, such as installation of bearings, parapets and road median, are progressing, officials said.

2 illegal liquor units busted in Gzb, 8 held | Noida News

Ghaziabad: Two illegal liquor manufacturing units have been busted in Masuri and Niwari in the last two days and eight persons have been arrested. Both factories, police said, were supplying liquor to various districts ahead of the panchayat polls. The first search was conducted at a house in Masuri on Sunday night, when six persons were arrested. SP (rural) Iraz Raja said, “Every day, they would manufacture 50 boxes of liquor and sell them under the brand names of Miss India and Good Morning,” he added. During questioning, the accused told the cops about one more unit in Niwari area. TNN
