Apr 5, 2021 BOOK SALE: The Hubbard Public Library, 436 W. Liberty St., is marking National Library Week through Saturday. The public is invited to visit the library inperson and online at www.beyond-books.org. New programs include “Toy Lending Library” and “Library of Things,” which allows patrons to borrow exercise equipment, ukulele, solar ovens and other non-books. There also is an ongoing book sale by the Friends of the Hubbard Library with proceeds benefiting programs and activities. NILES OFFERING COVID-19 SHOTS: Niles, in conjunction with the Trumbull County Combined Health District, will provide COVID-19 vaccinations to Trumbull County residents 18 and above 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Niles Wellness Center.

rfox@tribtoday.com WARREN Trumbull County commissioners on Thursday approved spending up to $400,000 of special pandemic CARES Act funding on building a structure at the Trumbull County fairgrounds to administer drive-thru vaccination clinics. The decision was a 2-1 split. Commissioners Mauro Cantalamessa and Frank Fuda voted in favor of the building, while Commissioner Niki Frenchko voted “no.” The project was proposed by the Trumbull County Combined Health District as a way to give shelter during the drive-thru events and increase the number of people who can be vaccinated at one time by increasing the lanes of traffic. It is expected to cost between $250,000 and $300,000, and will include the excavation, foundation, building, electrical, HVAC system, drive entrances and exits. The structure is being purchased through the state purchasing program and is expected to take four to eight weeks to construct.

NILES A new hands-on job training and workplace instructional program that started last year is providing high school students who face emotional issues with an opportunity to gain confidence as well as acquire new learning skills. Laura Revetti, supervisor of emotionally disturbed programs with the Trumbull County Educational Service Center, said the new vocational classroom is in partnership with Niles to place high school students into various jobs that get them familiar with real work experiences.
