The Detroit rapper partnered with McDonald’s Black & Positively Golden movement through his Sean Anderson Foundation, which is committed to the education, health, safety, and well-being of the young people who live in underserved communities across the country. “Mentorship can be key to success,” said Big Sean, who attributes mentorship as playing a role in his success. “I definitely benefitted from guidance as a young adult and aspiring artist, so it’s an honor to partner with McDonald’s to pay it forward as a Black & Positively Golden mentor who is helping another artist navigate her music caree

Breaking into the music industry has officially become a digital game, and emerging R&B star Teenear is taking full advantage. The Miami-bred R&B singer, signed to the infamous Slip-N-Slide Records, began generating buzz as an artist by uploading covers of popular songs on YouTube. Today, she’s singing her own lyrics, expressing her own thoughts, and carving her own lane among Gen-Z R&B talent.  For Teenear, who has been singing since the age of three, a music career seemed to be her destiny since day one. Big Sean has talked frequently throughout his career about the value of staying true to yourself. So it’s no surprise that theme was underscored when the star rapper met with an aspiring teen musician from Detroit for a recent career mentoring session. Nyla Lewis, a 19-year-old rapper-singer, landed the opportunity as part of a new McDonald’s initiative Black & Positively Golden Mentors that also earns her one-on-one time with marketing and digital execs at Roc Nation. Excerpts of their virtual meeting debuted Wednesday on Instagram, as 32-year-old Big Sean offered advice and took questions from the high-spirited young Lewis. He reflected on his own early days in the hip-hop game.

Detroit 2. Now the rapper is looking to help out the next generation of artists. Sean joined McDonald’s Black and Positively Golden Mentors program and surprised aspiring 19-year-old rapper, Nyla Lewis, with a one-on-one mentoring session. “Mentorship can be key to success,” said Big Sean, who attributes mentorship as having a role in his success. “I definitely benefitted from guidance as a young adult and aspiring artist, so it’s an honor to partner with McDonald’s to pay it forward as a Black & Positively Golden mentor who is helping another artist navigate her music career.”Through the mentor program, Lewis also received a mentoring session with acclaimed music record label Roc Nation, and a new laptop complete with professional music software, courtesy of McDonald’s and Big Sean.
