Musician and YouTuber Anthony “Bones” Reid has been sharing his unique take on songs by the likes of Nirvana and The Cure which he plays on a yangqin, a type of hammered dulcimer.
Reid performs under the moniker ‘Horns Of Pan’, describing his playing technique in the following manner: “Bonesy loops his voice, guitar, beat-boxed percussion and kaoss pad effects, building them smoothly into fat beats and harmonic discordant rhythms. Woven in are ethereal Mongolian overtones, and the shimmering loveliness of the yangqin.

The road leading to âDemidevilâ has been somewhat bumpy. Originally slated for release last October âshipping delaysâ held up proceedings first of all; then the mixtape was delayed again a second time. In a subsequent note to fans Ashnikko wrote that she was pushing things back to February 2021 so that she could put as much energy as possible into promoting it; you also canât help but wonder if the repeated rejigs were intended to give her breakthrough single âDaisyâ some more breathing room for standalone success. Like earlier track âStupidâ (both rose to prominence on TikTok) the song was crossing over from viral sensation to mainstream pop at the time, and gaining some major radio traction in the process â it ended up enjoying modest, but not runaway, chart success.

Grupo Salinas-owned independently operated Mexican studio Dopamine has extended its content relationship NENT Studios UK to cover unscripted projects, primarily from British producers.
The companies’ earlier scripted deal, which saw psychological thriller Close to Me as its first project, saw the partners work together to co-finance, develop and produce English-language drama. The new co-development deal will see Dopamine co-commission programming alongside UK broadcasters and platforms.
NENT Studios UK and Dopamine are now actively seeking relationships with factual producers who can deliver against their ‘4C’ criteria: who can work collaboratively to deliver creative, cost-effective and Covid-friendly programming. Specifically, they are looking for both what they call “out-of-the-box” and traditional genre ideas that could produce male-skewing documentary series and female-skewing, highly formatted factual entertainment.

The ‘Close To Me’ hitmakers are expected to release their long-awaited new LP next year – their first since 2008’s ‘4:13 Dream’ – and guitarist Reeves Gabrels explained the record has been inspired by a “tough couple of years” for the whole band.
He said: “It’s a heavy and dark record. I don’t think there are any short songs on there.
“The description of Lou Reed’s ‘Berlin’ when it came out was that it was the “‘Sgt Pepper’ of depression” – I don’t know if we’re that psychedelic but we are that depressed.
“It was a tough couple of years for everybody. A by-product of getting older is that people around you keep dying. We all lost relatives. Robert lost his brother, I lost a step-dad and father-in-law – while we were on the road too, which meant there was more strain.”
