NOPD said on April 19, at around 7:35 p.m., officers were called to the corner of Washington Avenue and LaSalle Street where they found a 14-year-old boy with a gunshot wound. The 14-year-old was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries the next day.

Soon after, police were called out to a shooting two blocks away on Fayette Street where they found and armed man and an armed woman standing in the street.

It happened about 7:30 a.m. at Castalia and Lowell in Castalia Heights. Investigators said the pedestrian, who has not been identified, was struck by a train. The victim died at the scene. Further details have not been released. The investigation is ongoing.  At 7:31 am, officers responded to a crash at Castalia and Lowell. A pedestrian was struck by a train.
