TAMPA, Fla. Detectives are investigating a deadly shooting in Tampa.
Police were dispatched just before 2:30 a.m. Thursday to reports of gunshots heard near East Columbus Drive and North 24th Street.
Officers found a man who had been shot and provided first aid. Paramedics took the man to a nearby hospital, where he died. While it is very early in the investigation, this does not appear to be a
random act, a Tampa Police Department spokesperson wrote in an email.

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. A Clayton County Police officer died Monday morning following a car accident, the department confirmed. The officer unfortunately passed away from his injuries, the department said in a prepared statement.
Police said the driver in the other car was taken to a local hospital and is in serious condition.
The name of the officer has not been released yet.
A spokesperson for the department said the officer had been with the agency for just over a year. She said before he was on the force, he came to the police department with his mother to cater an event and that is when he realized he wanted to be an officer. He later joined the team, she said.
The male was alert, conscious and breathing and provided medical treatment for his wound, APD said.

ATLANTA Atlanta Police are investigating a shooting near Greenbriar Parkway after the victim went to Grady Hospital Tuesday afternoon to get help.
The suspect in the case, according to Atlanta Police, is a young person.
Police went to Grady around 3:30 p.m. when the victim showed up in a car with a gunshot wound. The male was alert, conscious and breathing and provided medical treatment for his wound, APD said.
