A Cortland County motorcyclist being pursued by police was killed when he crashed his bike early Sunday morning in the city of Cortland, New York State Police said.
The motorcyclist, identified by Homer-based State Police as 26-year-old Casey J. Stockton of Harford, New York, crashed near the Port Watson bridge in Cortland just before 1 a.m., according to a State Police accident report.
Troopers said at the time of the crash, Stockton was being pursued by the Cortland Police Department and Cortland County sheriff’s deputies.
The area around the crash site was shut down for most of Sunday morning while the State Police investigated. Police said the roadway was re-opened around 11:30 a.m.
