Monday, 15 March, 2021 - 07:45 The Egyptian Minister of Irrigation at the First Baghdad International Water Conference (Ministry of Water Resources) Cairo - Mohammed Abdo Hasanein Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Atti reiterated Cairo s rejection of any unilateral actions by the upstream countries along the Nile River Basin. He also stressed that a legally binding agreement over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) would pave the way for investments and development in the Nile Basin countries. Speaking at the first International Water Conference in Baghdad, Abdel Atti reviewed the water challenges facing his country, in light of the shortage of resources, the rapid increase in the population, and climate change.

Sudan: Failure of reaching a binding agreement on GERD will negatively affect Roseires dam BY Sat, 27 Feb 2021 - 10:15 GMT A map shows the locations of Roseires reservoir in Sudan and Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam- A screenshot of Google Maps CAIRO – 27 February 2021: Failure of reaching a binding agreement on filling and operating the controversial Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and the refusal of providing data from the Ethiopian side will significantly negatively affect the operation of the Sudanese Roseires reservoir, said Manager of Roseires reservoir Hamed Mohamed Ali on Saturday.   In remarks to the Sudanese News Agency (SUNA), Ali said that the Sudanese Roseires dam will depend on the quantities of the river coming from the Renaissance Dam, and thus the absence of a binding and satisfactory agreement for all parties will constitute a great danger.
