A Hamilton man who stole a Porsche from a Hillside Drive home in Brant County was sentenced to time served plus more jail time on top of another sentence he was already serving.
Michael Raymond Allen, 21, took the 2018 Porsche Macan on Jan. 9, 2019, while he was still on probation for other crimes.

In Ontario Court, he pleaded guilty to theft of a motor vehicle and breach of probation.
Justice Robert Gee gave Allen credit for already serving about nine and a half months in jail and ordered him back to jail for another 79 days for a full year’s global sentence.

A petty thief who was arrested a dozen times over 15 months was sent to prison for a last dangerous act where he was carrying a weapon on the street in what was called “a disturbing manner.”
Alexander Barton, 27, was seen walking on the street last November at 8:15 a.m. with a black handgun and talking to himself.

When officers found Barton, they discovered he had a flare gun, but it had been modified to look like a real gun by painting orange parts black and wrapping electrical tape around the hand-grip. It also could operate like a real gun thanks to a brass barrel insert for a .22 calibre bullet.

An Ohsweken man who, earlier assured an Ontario Court judge he had changed his life, recently pleaded guilty to nine offences
Wade Everett Simon, 37, of Fourth Line Road, was sentenced in December 2019 for stealing lottery tickets from a variety store while armed with a machete, and helping to steal four laptop computers from a Brantford business. The judge gave him a sentence of time served of about 13 months and ordered him to repay $1,697.

“I need a chance to show you I’ve changed,” Simon told the judge, insisting his life had turned around since kicking his drug habit. “I’m willing to do whatever it takes.”

A 31-year-old Brantford woman caught in a drug raid on Walnut Street in 2018 was sentenced to a year in jail when she recently appeared in Ontario Court.
Nicole Isobell Ball was one of four people arrested in the May 25 raid when police found 111 grams of crack and powdered cocaine.
