A trial for a Christchurch man who allegedly murdered his neighboured, has entered its third day 26 May 2021
31-year-old Tristan Locke denies murdering Mark Cowling in September last year, after a row about excessive noise.
New Zealand Herald reporter Kurt Bayer says the court heard from a detective who was with Locke after his arrest.
The detective relayed a series of comments Locke made while in custody.
The accused told the officer that he was screwed , and that the guy didn t deserve it .
Locke also told the detective he was intoxicated, and had been for the previous week.
Amohanga was sentenced in the High Court at Invercargill on Wednesday before Justice Cameron Mander. Amohanga was using three grams of methamphetamine a day, but had since expressed motivation to deal with his drug issues, Justice Mander said. In her opening address of the trial, crown prosecutor Mary-Jane Thomas said the dispute was over a love triangle . Justice Mander said the male victim was at his mother’s house with someone Amohanga had been in a relationship with.
