Missing retired cop found dead in Hinoba-an

THE missing retired cop was found dead off the coast of Hinoba-an on Thursday, June 3, 2021. Eric Tenerife, consultant of Hinoba-an Mayor Ernesto Estrao, said retired Police Chief Master Sargeant Dakie Dacuscus, who previously served as a security aide to Estrao, was finally found Thursday but was already dead. Dacuscus wife, Jessybel, was found alive on Wednesday morning after their pickup was swept away by a flash flood due to heavy rains brought about by Tropical Storm Dante while driving in Barangay Bacuyangan. At the time of the flooding in the town, at least five persons were reported to have gone missing, which included Dacuscus.

Northern Negros Occidental LGUs brace for Auring

SunStar Photo courtesy of Pagasa February 18, 2021 LOCAL government units (LGUs) in the northern part of Negros Occidental have already started making their preparations for the onslaught of Tropical Storm Auring, which is forecasted to traverse the area sometime around Sunday, February 21, 2021, or Monday. In Victorias City, Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca held a meeting with the city s barangay captains on Wednesday. During the meeting, Palanca told barangay captains to make their preparations and take necessary steps to protect residents in their respective barangays. Barangay captains in the city also gave an update to Palanca of their current Covid-19 situation. In San Carlos City, Mayor Renato Gustilo also called for a meeting with city officials and the local police in preparation for the storm on Wednesday night.

Negros Occidental on heightened alert as Auring enters PAR

SunStar + February 17, 2021 AS TROPICAL Depression Auring entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the Negros Occidental Provincial Disaster Management Program Division (PDMPD) has issued a heightened alert status in the province. Dr. Zephard Caelian, head of PDMPD, also warned that the typhoon may hit the central part of the province if it does not change course and is expected to traverse the province either on Sunday, February 21, 2021, or Monday. Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson reminded Negrenses to be alert and ready to follow instructions. If there is a need for preemptive evacuation then let s follow that, he said. We should pray that it will change course, Lacson said, adding that tracking is being closely done on the typhoon and that it has the tendency either to go down or go up.
