Laws Fail to Change Hearts – Thus the Cross

Regardless of the money and time spent by pro-life advocates, yet another sitting U.S. President commemorated the recent anniversary of
Roe vs. Wade by extolling the benefits of abortion to society. As our political leaders race towards socialism and communism, overturning a law allowing what many on the left consider a sacrament, seems virtually out of reach for the foreseeable future.
Is the battle unwinnable? Hardly.
The problem it seems, however, is not the battle but rather the battlefield. A massive population in this country wishes abortion to remain legal. The challenge, it would seem, lies not in legislation, but rather the extended hand of life. “Thou Shalt Not…” endures as a clear command of the law, and yet how many offenses against the Ten Commandments pile up daily? Mandating morality remains difficult.
False Prophets Are Ravenous Wolves Deserving Public Rebuke

It seems unlikely that America’s deep fractures will heal quickly, and sorting out political culpability may take some time – even for the Christian community. Yet, one group has clearly and rightfully earned the rebuke of the church. That demographic consists of the many who prophecied wrongly about the election and aftermath.
Virtually everyone in church circles (and beyond) can most likely identify some sort of “prophecy” from God that somehow found its way to their inbox or feed. The mark of godly prophecy in Scripture is that it’s never wrong. False prophets don’t have that kind of track record. Yet are they publicly admonished?
The Courage to Live While Not Dying

All too many faces this Christmas seemed tinged with fear. While the year itself will ignobly bear the stigma of heartache and challenges for generations to come, people’s anguish seems deeper than even COVID-19.
Despair and dread reflect a condition of the soul that circumstances unexpectedly (and undesirably) reveal. As long as the illusion of wrapping one’s arm around a problem remains, a false sense of serenity seems enough to keep trepidation at bay.
For millennia, lives regularly bear great uncertainty during each day; it’s the human condition. The virus, however, allowed the human condition to be exposed simultaneously in every human being at once. Although history records numerous plagues, none have ever swept the entire race while the whole planet watched in real time.
