Premium Content Police are responding to reports of a break-in at an Eimeo school overnight. A Queensland Police spokesman said a crew was en route to Eimeo Road State School about 7.45am. “Information came in that one of the school’s blocks has been broken into,” the spokesman said. “The early indication is that someone has broken into a (a building) and there may be property stolen.” The Mackay City Bowls Club, Wests Leagues Club and Sarina Bowls Club have all reported break and enters. These crimes remain unsolved, with police treating them as unrelated to each other. Subscriber benefits:

Offenders cut fence during break-in at memorial pool

Premium Content Subscriber only UPDATE 1.30PM: About $2000 worth of damage was caused when offenders broke into the Memorial Swim Centre on Wednesday night, Mackay Regional Council has confirmed. Organisational Services director Kylie Lamb said two door frames and part of a fence were damaged at the facility. They also broke into a safe owned by contractor Belgravia Leisure and stole a minimal amount of cash and damaged a vending machine, Ms Lamb said. Repairs are being completed today (January 14) and the facility was reopened to the public at 10.30am. It is disappointing that someone would attempt to steal from a community facility and unfortunately ratepayers are left to pick up the bill for the damage they have caused.
