Finley s adventures: Traveling to Gloucester on Cape Ann
Sherry Fendell/Special to the Crier
“White light flashing every 5 seconds . Eastern Point Lighthouse was erected in 1832 on Gloucester’s eastern point to mark the harbor entrance. In addition to the light, there is a lighthouse station, which continues to serve as housing for the U.S. Coastguard. One of the station’s more famous occupants was Winslow Homer. The noted artist spent a year living at the light in 1880.” from Cape Ann information
I knew that Finley and I could not delay our trip to Cape Ann, Good Harbor Beach in particular, for this beach was off limits to resident dogs and visitors from April 1-October 1, and today was March 29th. We decided to leave the forested landscape of home and take the hour’s journey north. I packed Finley’s dinner, my lunch, apple slices for us and 2 thermoses of water.
